How to Cook Millet Upma
Ingredients:
-
20 gms of any millets
-
1 teaspoon urad dal
-
½ tomato diced (small)
-
2 tablespoon green peas
-
2 tablespoon carrot chopped
-
½ teaspoon chopped chillies
-
Some fresh chopped coriander
-
2-3 fresh curry leaf
-
⅓ teaspoon cumin seeds.
-
½ teaspoon or as per your taste, Himalayan pink salt.
-
1 tablespoon A2 Gir Gow Bilona Ghee
-
2 cups of water or as per your your requirement
Preparation:
-
Rinse millets & soak for 6-8 hrs.
-
In a mud pan add soaked millet and cook over medium heat until toasty but not browned, about 2 minutes. Transfer to a bowl.
-
In a mud pan heat ghee, add mustard seeds, allow to crackle then add curry leaf mix well & add soaked dal.
-
Add all veggies & chopped chillies saute well until the veggies are cooked.
-
Add toasted millet and stir vigorously until the mixture resembles wet sand about a minute. Add the salt and gently pour in the water. The millet will bubble and spurt as it absorbs the water. Reduce heat to low. Allow this mixture to cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly. The Upma absorbs water very quickly and tends to dry out too, so turn off the heat when the mixture is slightly runny. Serve immediately.
